Biography:

Naziha is a BAFTA nominated British-Libyan artist and filmmaker. Born in Hastings, Naziha moved to Libya during the 2011 uprising to explore her dual heritage

With a background in theatre, Naziha creates as a storyteller across various visual and written mediums. In 2012 she co-founded HuNa, a Tripoli-based collective, working at the intersection between art and activism, creating and sharing films centering identity, class, gender and reconciliation

Alongside feature films, Naziha has also made many shorts and campaigns for NGOs, both in the SWANA region and globally. She has produced and shot films supported by Sundance, Hot Docs, IDFA, AFAC, Rai Cinema, Tribeca, Al Jazeera, and The Guardian amongst others, and her artwork, photography and writing has been published both extensively in print and exhibited globally. Naziha is a Sundance Edit Lab fellow, a WEF Global Shaper and a member of Lumiere D’Afrique and Rawiyat. In 2018 her award-winning debut feature FREEDOM FIELDS premiered at TIFF, screening at over 70 festivals including BFI LFF, IDFA, CPHdox, Blackstar and Ajyal. Alongside a Mubi and Criterion Channel release, it is also part of grassroots screenings in Libya and internationally

Naziha is also a programme consultant for Sheffield DocFest and has carried out workshops and talks for IDFA Academy, Hot Docs, SDI, Other Cinema’s, The Arab British Centre, Women Filmmakers Caravan and various Universities, including Cambridge, Georgetown, Northwestern, amongst others. She is currently working on a new hybrid project, and enjoys gardening, mentoring, extreme nature and exploring alternative spaces and forms of storytelling.
