Biography:

Bashir Abulgasem is a Libyan writer, producer, and filmmaker. He established the Autumn Cinema event and worked on the Cinema of Nonviolence project.

Given Bashir’s interest in spreading cinema culture in Libya, he gave workshops and courses on scriptwriting and collaborated in many documentary film productions locally and internationally.

He participated in the Swedish Malmö Festival for Arab Cinema and the Alexandria Film Festival, in which he entered with the film The Lovers’ Party.

His contributions have won awards at Tanit Festival, Mizdah International Festival, Erato Festival, and Made in Libya Festival, as well as winning the Farid Siala Prize for Short Story for his The Pedestrian Bridge story.

Bashir was an assistant director in one of the episodes of the series Takharif produced in 2021 and wrote the If It Was film, which he is currently supervising its production.

In 2021 Bashir was one of the mentors of Libya Film Institute’s Khotwa project, assisting and supervising the project participants in producing documentary films as an outcome of the project.
