Biography:
London born, half South African. He manages to both direct and edit documentaries, although at vastly different paces. His films take numerous years to finish. Khalid constructs and completes several films a year as an editor.
Khalid is working in the film and TV industry in the UK, Middle East and Southern Africa since 1997, he runs his production company tubafilms from Cape Town where he has been based since 2005. Trained as a director he much prefers editing and many of the films he has worked on feature at major festivals around the world. he completed his own first feature documentary Imam in 2011 and his second film, The Colonel’s Stray Dogs has its premiere at HotDocs 2021.
He graduated in Film Studies and Art & Design History from Middlesex University in London and graduated with an upper-class BA Hons, have held an associate lectureship position at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg from 2006 to 2009, and was an integral part of the running of Africa’s first Rough Cut Edit Lab, hold the prestigious South African Guild of Editors acronym, he is a PhD candidate at the CHR at UWC and have acquired some awards along the way.
