Biography:
Mohammed Ben Omran is a cinema blogger, freelance writer, and contributor to numerous local cinema and film activities. He graduated from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Benghazi. He was born in Derna in September 1994 and lived in Benghazi. He is now residing in Istanbul, hoping for a life adventure that would bring him closer to achieving his dreams.
He started his career in writing and creating cinematic content through film forums, he also worked at the Film Council, where he got a management position at the council.
His activity in writing about cinema continued until he established an independent platform titled “Cinematic diaries” in May 2015, which was the point when his reviews and writings about cinema began to spread to a broader audience, and the number of followers of the platform is over 20 thousand, The page’s content was directly based on critical writing about films.
Ben Omran managed the “Movie Lovers” group, which has over 100,000 subscribers, believing in the necessity of networking between different cinematic tastes.
Ben Omran also contributes on well-known platforms such as AraGeek, Huna Libya, and Wow Libya, as well as Libya 24 news website. He cooperated in cinematographic and visual culture content activities with Deraz Corner and Al-Mohtawajya platform. He also has a frequent presence on local TV channels to talk about the development in the cinema world. In 2020, Ben Omran decided to produce a podcast and an independent radio program called “Cinematic Diary”, and he released about 30 episodes, during which he hosted important Arab and Libyan figures who are active in the field of the cinema.
Ben Omran recently joined the Libya Film Institute staff and is now writing and managing projects as well as making personal contributions to local filmmakers in developing their cinematic scripts.
